Olallieberries have a sweet-tart flavor and are awesome for fresh eating, jams, jellies, preserves, wine and pies.
The Olallieberry (Rubus ‘Olallie’) is a trailing blackberry hybrid bred by the USDA and Oregon State University in the mid20th century. The name Olallie originates from the Chinook Jargon word for berry,” reflecting its Pacific Northwest roots.
The plant features long trailing canes that benefit from support, thrives in full sun and welldrained loamy soils, and adapts to a range of climates. Harvest times are from late spring into early summer depending on locale.
USDA zones 5‑10
