Boysenberries are highly perishable because they have extremely thin skins and a high moisture content. That’s the reason you only see them occasionally at farmers markets. We pick our boysenberries at the perfect ripeness to insure the fresh quality of our jams and syrups.
Boysenberries get their unique juicy and tangy sweet flavor because they are a cross between raspberries, loganberries and blackberries. In the early 1920s Rudolph Boysen developed the boysenberry and was later grown by Walter Knott of Knott’s Berry Farm fame.
