Olallieberries are an amazing balance of sweet and tart flavor, perfect for making jam. Olallieberry (pronounced oh-la-leh) is another berry you won’t find at the grocery store. Mainly because they have a very short shelf life. These berries are a cross between a Loganberry and Youngberry and were developed in Oregon in the late 40s. Loganberries are a cross between Blackberries and Raspberries and Youngberries are a cross between Blackberries, Raspberries and Dewberries. The resulting Olallieberry has the characteristics of a Blackberry with an amazing balance of sweet and tart flavor. This combination is perfect for making jams and syrups.
